You and your home

"What's in it for me?"

You might have looked at some of the other pages on this web site and wondered, "That's all fine but what's in it for me?"

Those other pages are intended for the 'stakeholders' as they are known, who will actually cause the benefits of UK3.0 to be brought to your home. So what are those benefits? What indeed is its relevance to anyone, in his or her home?

OK, to the benefits

The benefits fall into several broad categories. The ones of relevance to you will depend on your personal circumstances. Those broad categories relate to energy and environmental concerns, safety and security in your home, healthcare and personal care, living independently with dignity and good quality of life. They go on to include entertainment and 'lifestyle' and - dare we say it? - fun.

The benefits include reduced bills, easy access to services you need from the public sector, better transport and yet with overall reduced carbon emissions. They include supportive communities with less crime and increased social participation.

In the coming weeks we will add several subsections to each of the tabs above. Each will contain a selection of categories into which the services fall. You will see a vast array. Many will be irrelevant to you but everyone will find several of interest to them. If there is something you think we have missed out, please sign up and tell us.

One of the most important aspects of UK3.0 is that is possible for services to be constructed for which YOU are the only user. That means businesses are providing what you need rather than the other way round. That facility won't be available at first and we have to make sure that everything works as it should before we make it available. Even then, the huge variety of services in their own right mean you home will provide so very much more, enhancing every aspect of your life if you wish to use them in that way.
What's in it for me? Why should it be important to be?
