Training & Support

Creating & sustaining 100,000+ new jobs

UK3.0 presents an unprecedented opportunity to deliver a revolution in up-skilling and providing employment for hundreds of thousands of people.

UK3.0 will provide collaboration between the construction, electronics and IT industries to elevate UK housing from its traditional, passive role into an active, supportive environment. UK3.0 equipped homes will provide public and private sector services directly to the people who need them, in their homes.

Futureproofing the UK housing industry

Government policy and the new realities of the world make the provision of these services not merely desirable but a legislated necessity.

The beneficial consequences for energy consumption and carbon emissions reduction are profound. The ecosystem will provide a systemic methodology for the low-cost implementation and operation of unique services designed around the needs of individuals, not corporations. At its heart is the emphasis on local and community services. The principle of moving information, not people demands that the skills and jobs for roles as diverse as installation, maintenance, and service fulfilment are provided locally. Proven competence by those undertaking these roles is essential for customer confidence as well as others within the ecosystem. For this, the Training and Support framework within UK3.0 will harness existing training and qualification structures to define new qualifications where these are needed, develop curricula and make awards.

Ongoing training

Services design and implementation within the ecosystem as well as how to use the provisions between the frameworks all require ongoing training.

In order the £100 billion per annum by 2019 target of UK3.0 is reached, the ecosystem must continually adapt to developing needs. The Training and support framework will host a 'virtual research centre' - The Connected Homes Services Laboratory. The CHSL will support the development of the science and technology to benefit from the national resource of a nation so equipped.
