UK3.0
World-class, "next generation" homes
UK3.0 has been specifically designed to add valueto UK housing. It is intended to play a major
role in regenerating the housing market for the
benefit of the construction industry and its
customers alike. Of the £100billion p.a. target of
UK3.0, a substantial portion of that value will be
in the construction sector.
Change is inevitable
Residential housing is about to undergo atransformation last seen in the automotive sector
fifteen years ago. It is today impossible for vehicles to comply with extensive performance and emissions regulations without the integration of electronic systems. The combination of mechanical and electronic systems produces structures that are able to perform far better than mechanical systems alone.
National policy related to sustainability, zero-carbon homes, Digital Britain and Putting People First are now having a direct impact on the specifications of homes commissioned by public and third sector purchasers. Their influence is growing on retail purchasers. Demands for homes that are better places to live and that suit the needs of single people, the disabled and the growing ranks of elderly people are adding complexity to the market.
Staying in is the new going out
It is well documented that people are spending more time in their homes and less time in pubs and the like. This is driving up the market opportunity for entertainment services. For example, 3D television is already being developed as a commercial reality. Most homes are however ill-equipped to accommodate it.UK3.0 facilitates the provision of public and private sector services directly into homes. It is assembling a vast array of services, many of them free of charge. The project is engaging with stakeholders throughout the construction industry. It is consulting with and gaining the involvement of builders and developers. Stakeholders from architects to regulators are contributing to building the environment whereby UK housing will be quite simply, the envy of the world.
Pressures on the Construction Sector have rarely been greater than they are today. The current market and financial situation needs no further elaboration. The project will also bring together developers and builders with new sources of funding so they can take advantage of the opportunity that is UK3.0.
